The 2019 Cricket World Cup will be hosted by England and Wales.[1][2] This will be the twelfth Cricket World Cup competition, and the fifth time it will be held in England, following the 1975, 1979, 1983 and 1999 World Cups.

The hosting rights were awarded in April 2006, after England withdrew from the bidding to host the 2015 Cricket World Cup, which will be held in Australia and New Zealand.

Qualification

The 2019 World Cup will feature 10 teams, down from 14 teams in 2011 and 2015. The top eight teams in the ICC rankings will earn automatic qualification with the remaining two places decided by a qualifying competition. This will allow ICC associate and affiliate members to qualify, and could mean that, for the first time, a Cricket World Cup may not feature every Test playing nation.[3]
